Greg O'Haver at Lazy Daze

Kevin enjoyed sitting at Lazy Daze recently listening to a wonderful musician, Greg O'Haver. Greg and Kevin sort of knew each other but had never met. Greg graduated from Howe a few years before Kevin and so had met him via the Howe website. Unknown to Greg, Kevin also knew him through his wonderful wife Jeanne (McGill) O'Haver. Kevin had met Jeanne years ago at the Dry Dock restaurant through Mark Hancock and the band "Kara Company."

Greg currently plays solo and with a Christian group called "Crossover Road."

Greg opened with a song Kevin had only heard one other person play, "Deep River Blues." The song appears on Jorma Kaukonen's "Blue Country Heart," his Grammy nominated CD from 2003. Kevin learned "Deep River Blues" from Jorma during one of his visits to Fur Peace Ranch. Greg continued with a wonderful version of the Dirt Band's "American Dream."

Greg has a clean finger-style of playing and a deep, pleasant voice. He also has a wide range of songs to please most folkies and rockers. If you've never heard Greg or "Crossover Road" you should make a date to hear them. Visit their site at www.crossoverroad.com.

Image(s) of the Month
Our Wonderful Australian Friend, Suzi Borg Olivier (1986)
Dave and I met Suzi in 1986 during our "Thundershower Tour" of New Orleans. Suzi was from Australia and was taking time off from work and things to travel the world. She was passing through New Orleans while Dave and I were playing there and we immediately made a strong connection. She ultimately changed her cross-the-US plans and came to stay with us in Indy for a couple of weeks. This picture was taken at the Dry Dock restaurant. Suzi is holding Bongo the Bear. Interestingly enough, she now owns a dog she loves very much named Bongo. A coincidence? I don't think so!!! We have recently reconnected with Suzi after 25 years. She is doing wonderfully well in the Gold Coast of Australia. We are so glad to be reconnected with this wonderful person and fabulous musician.

Monty the Mime (New Orleans 1986)
This is a picture of our New Orleans nemesis Monty the Mime taken by our very good Aussie friend Suzi Borg Olivier. Monty decided that his miming to our music would be good for all of us. Somehow his miming to "Atlanta's Burnin' Down" just didn't get it. We couldn't get him to go away. He showed up every day. I hate mimes!
